Thomas Chapin, Night Bird Song Documentary
Objective
Write a press release and coordinate media coverage for the first major screening of a biographical documentary in Edmonton, created by an Emmy-winning director. The film was about an unconventional jazz great who died just as his career had reached another level.
Strategy
We canvassed the local media and the North American jazz community to promote the screening at a local jazz club. Interviews were booked, news coverage was solicited, and the screening was added to local event pages. A web interview was set up, and a LinkedIn blog was written.
Results
The North American jazz community was receptive to learning more about the documentary, and we solicited for subsequent screenings in other city venues. There were a few writeups and screenings booked as a result. The client also extended the contract to do the same public relations tasks for the Monterey Jazz Festival and screenings in New York City.
